November’s Peppermint Truffle
It’s November and the holiday season is already approaching us! Another month means another special confection for Dorinda’s Chocolate Of The Month Club! November’s chocolate is the Peppermint Truffle, with a peppermint buttercream center, coated in dark chocolate and topped with crunchy peppermint candy.
This specific chocolate is uniquely different from others out there, thanks to its ingredient content and the thoughtful intent behind this. Here at Dorinda’s, we believe in using REAL ingredients, so our peppermint candies are colored red from beet juice, rather than dyes and artificial colors. Don't despair though - the Peppermint Truffle still has that strong peppermint flavor!
Here’s a look at the ingredients to this healthier confectionary alternative:
- Buttercream
- Condensed milk
- Powdered sugar
- Peppermint oil
- Dark chocolate
- Peppermint candy
The main difference lies in the type of cream used for our chocolates. Most of our truffles are made using a ganache, which is a heavy cream and chocolate filling. The Peppermint Truffle is made with buttercream, giving it a completely different texture and making it more flavorful.
If you need a visual to get your mouth watering even more, imagine a round, shiny, deep brown chocolate sphere the size of a half-dollar. Then there’s an opening in the top, the size of a small square, revealing white and red bits of peppermint candy inside the truffle! You’ll just have to try one to see the whole inside and taste what we’re talking about!
